folk Ghost Stories

The Northeastern folks are also called Dingxianghuo and ghost cultivators in Northeast China. They are immortals who are engaged in investigating folk affairs and treating hysteria. Chumaxian refers to some animals such as pythons, snakes, foxes, and weasels who have practiced for hundreds or even thousands of years. They come to the human world in order to accumulate merit and save the world, achieve righteousness, and return to the class of immortals to become righteous gods.

However, there are many inconveniences, and they cannot transform into adults to directly treat people. Therefore, the immortals choose people with immortal fate and understanding to become disciples, and use their bodies to help people investigate and treat diseases.

The story I want to tell takes place in a village in the northeast that is surrounded by mountains and rivers. The old people there say that the village has good feng shui, but the old Wu family does not feel that the feng shui is good. The family is very poor, and Mrs. Wu’s son works as a construction worker. When Wu Xiaoju was fourteen and her brother was sixteen, their mother left them and ran away with someone else. After graduating from junior high school, her brother went home to do farm work.

When Xiao Ju was eighteen years old, he was drinking with someone and had a few words at the wine table. He didn't know how to scratch the floor. Er Gang from the same village took a broken beer bottle and scratched Xiao Ju's eyes, which blinded him.

After Xiaoju's grandma fell ill, she asked a man to check it out. He said that it was a house that Xiaoju's father had rebuilt when he got married. There used to be a temple behind it, but it was destroyed during the Revolution, leaving a pile of bricks. After renovating the house, we built a toilet next to the temple, using bricks from the temple. The gods in the temple were angry. Mr. Chuma told Xiao Ju Nai that it would be enough to move the toilet and build a small temple. Xiao Ju Nai followed suit one by one. , I feel much more comfortable.

In a blink of an eye, Xiaoju turned eighteen. She was elegant and delicate. After graduating from junior high school, she went to work as a turn shifter in a textile factory in the town with the people in the village. It was a very hard shift.

On this day, Xiaoju got off the day shift and her grandma had a stomachache and had to go to the pharmacy. She did not go with Xiulan from the same village. It was a hot summer day and the sultry weather made people breathless. She was riding on the path at the foot of the mountain. The sun is going down, and there is no one on the road. The chain of the car has fallen off again. This old car has been losing its chain for the past few days. I have to let my brother repair it. I can't fool around with it anymore. After getting out of the car, she kicked the car, looked around for a stick, and squatted down to pick up the chain. What happened today? It couldn't be repaired, so Xiao Ju simply grabbed the chain with her hands.

"The chain has fallen off." someone was asking.

Xiaoju was startled and looked up to see a man wearing a half-sleeved white undershirt smiling.

"Um."

"I'll fix it," he said, squatting down. It was fixed soon.

"Thank you, you have car oil on your hands…" Xiao Ju was embarrassed.

"It's okay, my name is Xie Xumin, where are you?"

"Just call me Xiaoju. Thank you for today. I'm leaving first. Grandma is worried."

"Okay, see you another day."

The next day, Xiaoju and Xiulan rode past the place where the car was repaired yesterday, and saw Xie Xumin from yesterday. He was smiling and waving. He was very handsome. "Why are you smiling?" Xiulan asked.

"Yesterday, Xie Xumin, who helped me repair my car, was just opposite, but you didn't see him."

"No, there's no one on the road." Xiulan looked back.

For several days, Xiaoju could see Xie Xumin. Xiaoju also began to avoid Xiulan and the people in the village, and went home by herself so that she could see Xie Xumin.

More than a month later, Xiao Ju and Xie Xumin fell in love. Xiao Ju was elegant and delicate, while the other was fair and handsome. However, no one had ever seen Xie Xumin.

But Xiulan felt that something was wrong with Xiaoju. She couldn't tell, she was often in a daze, talking to herself, and sometimes she even laughed and ignored her when he talked to her. Xiao Ju was not like this before. They were from the same village, were classmates, and were classmates in elementary school. Although Xiao Ju's life was miserable, she was still very cheerful and shared each other's concerns. They were best friends. Xiulan looked a little uneasy.

More than a month passed like this. On this day, Xiulan went to Xiaoju's house to work with her. She saw Xiaoju's milk in the courtyard and said that Xiaoju was sick. She asked her to ask for leave. When she entered the house, she saw Xiaoju lying on the kang, unconscious. The reaction was dumbfounded. Xiulan talked to her. She laughed twice and didn't respond again.

Coming out of the house, Xiaoju's grandma was waiting at the door. She asked Xiulan if Xiaoju was angry with someone in the factory. Xiulan cried and shook her head: "Grandma, I felt something was wrong in the first few days. I didn't dare to say anything." , I’m afraid it’s hard to tell, but Xiaoju’s illness is probably related to a man named Xie Xumin. No one has ever seen him. I feel… Grandma, please find someone who is a good person to take a look. I’ve seen that my uncle is sick. Mom looked for it."

Xiaoju's grandmother discussed with Xiaoju's father and brother to go to another village to find Mr. Ma. The girl's family was still small and the influence would not be good. Two days later, Brother Xiaoju found out that there was a Chongma Immortal in another village who had good medical treatment. There were a lot of people going to see the doctor, and they all queued up early. Moreover, at 12 o'clock at noon, the immortals had to rest, so they stopped seeing the doctor.

So, at five o'clock the next morning, they got on the farm vehicle they had rented and booked the day before.

When we got there, it wasn't even six o'clock yet, and the disciples were washing up. There were already three or four groups lined up in the courtyard. Fortunately, we were able to catch him.

When it was their turn, grandma took Xiaoju, her father, and her brother into the house. The disciple who came out was a woman in her fifties. The aroma in the room was very strong. There was an incense burner on the table. Under the incense burner, there were red and green banknotes. The disciple who came out put on the incense stick, lit a cigarette, and yawned continuously. , looked at Xiaoju and asked, "Is it her?" Grandma hurriedly agreed.

"This child has been ill for a long time." The immortal family said.

"It's been a while." Grandma Xiaoju replied.

"It's been a hundred days, so it's a bit late. Moreover, I am haunted by bad fate from my past life. I have too much resentment. I am shallow and can't do anything."

Suddenly, grandma, dad, and brother were all stunned, "What should we do?" Grandma cried, "Is this child hopeless?"

"You see, the incense has not even finished burning. It is gone and the Immortal Family is gone," said the disciple who came out.

There was no way to beg, so Xiaoju's brother and father took their sister and helped her grandma out. The grandma cried and put fifty yuan next to the incense burner.

"Go back to Lao Cai's house in your village and have a look. He may have a solution." Disciple came out.

This hall was considered very good in the early days, but later it became greedy for money and demanded more and more incense and money. The immortals all left one after another, and their reputation was already empty.

When we arrived at the village, it was already afternoon, so we went straight to Lao Cai's house in the south of the village. He couldn't care about so much. Cai Yongfu, the eldest son of Lao Cai's family, was chosen by the Immortal family to be a horse disciple in the first few years. He didn't quite believe it. After these two years of suffering from illness, I gradually understood the Tao. I opened a church last year and became a disciple, and I can accurately check things and diagnose diseases.

After entering the hospital, Cai Yongfu was at home. When he was let into the house, Xiaoju's grandma told her the truth. Cai Yongfu nodded while listening. He was fifty years old and about the same age as Xiaoju's father. He put on three sticks of incense and looked at Xiaoju. He yawned ten times in a row, walked around the room, jumped on the kang, and sat down with his legs crossed.

"The child is over a hundred days old, three of the seven souls are gone, and the resentful souls from the past life have come to haunt him." The fairy tale in Cai Yongfu came to life.
