5. Past Events
The villagers carried Liu Dong's body to the village committee. Shen Fei followed them slowly, recalling what happened thirty years ago. She told Sima Zijian that there were indeed six educated youths who joined the production team here, among whom her husband Pan Dajun was the oldest, Chen Hai was the second oldest, Liu Dong was behind Chen Hai, and she and another female educated youth were the youngest.
Hearing this, Sima Zijian took out his notebook and quickly wrote down the names mentioned by Shen Fei. He then stared at Shen Fei and asked, "Did an educated youth disappear back then?" Sima Zijian noticed that Shen Fei's face suddenly showed a subtle touch. She was silent for a moment before she answered softly, "His name is Wu Jianwei. He is the fourth of the six people and is only a little older than me." At this point, Shen Fei looked ahead, sighed, and said, "He is usually a nice person, but no one expected that he would…"
"He disappeared after stealing supplies from the production team?" Sima Zijian asked.
Shen Fei nodded: "For so many years, there has been no news about him. Everyone said that he must have fallen off a cliff and died while escaping. In addition, his parents died in the cowshed. Without any relatives, naturally no one asked where he went. There were many people missing in those days, and who could have taken care of them…"
Sima Zijian saw that her expression became more and more resentful when she mentioned Wu Jianwei, so he vaguely guessed the relationship between them. "You were dating Wu Jianwei at the time, right?"
Shen Fei was startled by Sima Zijian's question, then lowered her head and nodded silently. After a long time, she whispered, "Wu Jianwei is introverted, loves literature, and takes good care of me…" Shen Fei seemed to be talking to herself, immersed in memories of the past.
Sima Zijian's eyes lit up at Shen Fei's words, and he suddenly thought of something. He opened the page in his notebook where the nursery rhyme was written, and wrote the names "Pan Dajun", "Wu Jianwei" and "Shen Fei" after "Big Shrimp", "Five Shrimp" and "Six Shrimp" respectively, and drew two lines to connect Chen Hai with "Three Shrimp" and Liu Dong with "Four Shrimp".
Yang Lele, who had been silent all the time, realized that Sima Zijian had discovered an important clue. She gently tugged at Sima Zijian and whispered, "Is this Shen Fei the 'Six Shrimp' in the nursery rhyme? Is her husband Pan Dajun the 'Big Shrimp'?"
Sima Zijian stopped and waited for Shen Fei to walk away before nodding his head affirmatively and explaining: "Pan Dajun is the oldest, so he is naturally 'Big Shrimp'. And that Wu Jianwei is the 'Five Shrimp' in the nursery rhyme. He was born in an intellectual family and loves literature, so it should not be a problem for him to compose such a nursery rhyme. More importantly, in the nursery rhyme, after 'Five Shrimp' died, only 'Six Shrimp' cried for him. This 'Six Shrimp' is naturally Wu Jianwei's lover – Shen Fei!"
"But didn't Shen Fei say that there were only six educated youth in total, and wasn't Wu Jianwei the fourth oldest in terms of age? How could he be 'Five Shrimp'?" Although Yang Lele felt that Sima Zijian's speculation made sense, he still couldn't figure it out.
Sima Zijian frowned and replied, "Why there is an extra 'shrimp' in the nursery rhyme, I can't guess. Maybe it's because Wu Jianwei used the homophony of his surname, and used 'five shrimps' to imply 'the educated youth surnamed Wu who went to the countryside.'" At this point, Sima Zijian's voice rose, "And, I'm sure that the 'disease' in the first sentence of the nursery rhyme refers to 'lovesickness'!"
Yang Lele was so surprised that she couldn't close her mouth for a long time. Then, in Sima Zijian's narration, a tragic story gradually became clear. Sima Zijian speculated that Wu Jianwei and Shen Fei were secretly in love at the beginning, but Pan Dajun also fell in love with the beautiful Shen Fei and became lovesick. If Pan Dajun wanted to get Shen Fei, he had to find a way to get rid of Wu Jianwei. And for some unknown reason, Chen Hai and Liu Dong acted as Pan Dajun's accomplices, which is what the nursery rhyme says, one "buys medicine" and the other "boils". In the end, the three of them poisoned Wu Jianwei and forged the illusion that Wu Jianwei stole materials from the production team and absconded. After Shen Fei lost Wu Jianwei, Pan Dajun naturally took advantage of the opportunity and got Shen Fei as he wished.
"If my guess is correct, Chen Hai and Liu Dong were both accomplices in Wu Jianwei's disappearance. Their deaths today…"
"Someone killed someone to silence them!" Before Sima Zijian could finish, Yang Lele blurted out, "Pan Dajun's disappearance and the deaths of the two people can't be a coincidence!"
At this time, the sky was gradually getting dark. Everyone was busy setting up the mourning hall in the village committee, while Shen Fei was looking for Pan Dajun everywhere in the village. The village director also called a few young men to help find Pan Dajun with torches.
But until dawn, after searching the entire mountain village, there was no trace of Pan Dajun. Sima Zijian became more and more uneasy, thinking of the strange deaths of Chen Hai and Liu Dong, he suggested to the village director to call the police as soon as possible and let the police intervene. This would not only help find Pan Dajun, but also thoroughly find out the cause of death of Chen Hai and Liu Dong.
Although the village director thought Sima Zijian's words made sense, he felt that there was a landslide on the road and the roadside was full of cars, so it would be difficult for the police to get in. Therefore, the most urgent task was to organize the villagers to search everywhere.
Sima Zijian was exhausted after a night of hard work and could no longer hold on, so he planned to go to rest first.
The lame man did not answer, his lips trembled a few more times, and he recited intermittently: "The big shrimp is sick, the second shrimp goes to see, the third… the third shrimp buys medicine, the fourth shrimp… boils, the fifth shrimp dies, dies…" The big shrimp is sick, the second shrimp goes to see, the third shrimp buys medicine, the fourth shrimp boils, the fifth shrimp dies, the sixth shrimp mourns, the sixth shrimp sits on the ground and cries, the seventh shrimp asks him why he is crying? The sixth shrimp says that the fifth shrimp has gone and will never come back!
1. Invisible Tombstone
This nursery rhyme was heard by folklorist Sima Zijian on his way back to the city from Yuejia Village.
That day, their car just passed a mountain road, and suddenly found that there was a landslide in front of them. The mud and rocks rushed down from the mountain blocked the road. The mountain road was narrow, and it was impossible to turn back . It seemed that they had to stay here and wait for the engineers to clear the road before they could go back.
Sima Zijian and Yang Lele felt stuffy in the car, so they got out and walked to the side of the road to get some fresh air.
This is a winding mountain road. There are several children of five or six years old playing on the roadside, singing this nursery rhyme while they are playing.
When Sima Zijian heard the nursery rhyme, he suddenly became interested. He remembered that he was collecting nursery rhymes from all over the country and was preparing to compile a nursery rhyme collection, so he asked Yang Lele to get a recorder from the car and record the nursery rhyme.
"This is a really strange nursery rhyme," Sima Zijian frowned as he listened to the nursery rhyme. He turned around and asked Yang Lele, "Why is it that Big Shrimp is sick, but Five Shrimp died? This doesn't seem to make sense."
Seeing Sima Zijian's serious expression, Yang Lele almost laughed: "I sang 'The Little Mouse Climbed the Lampstand' when I was a child. Can the little mouse really call grandma? This is just a nursery rhyme for children to practice counting."
Sima Zijian shook his head and disagreed with Yang Lele's opinion: "I understand Chinese culture. Many nursery rhymes may seem ordinary, but they actually have their origins, at least they are related to local customs and folkways."
Sima Zijian learned from several children that this place was not far from a village called Huaishu Village. He decided to go to the village with Yang Lele, hoping to find something interesting. Seeing that there were guests going to the village, several children shouted and ran towards the village.
The car drove along the mountain road and turned a corner, and then we saw a village. There were dozens of families in the village, and the houses were all scattered on the nearby hillside. Hearing that two city people had come, many villagers gathered around. Sima Zijian asked them about the nursery rhyme.
Soon, he found that many young people here had sung this nursery rhyme when they were young. But the older people had never heard of this nursery rhyme when they were young, and they didn't know where it came from. They just felt that it seemed that many children could sing it all of a sudden. From the time of calculation, this nursery rhyme has only a history of about 30 years in the local area. In such a closed village, where did the children at that time learn it?
Sima Zijian searched on his computer and found that there was no record of this nursery rhyme anywhere else. It seemed that this nursery rhyme had fallen from the sky to Huaishu Village!
Sima Zijian was thinking. At this time, someone called out, "The village director is here!" Sima Zijian turned around and saw a man in his forties. The village director was very happy to know that Sima Zijian was an expert in investigating folk customs, and repeatedly invited them to stay in the village for a few more days. At this time, news came that the road could not be repaired for the time being. Sima Zijian decided to stay in the village temporarily and return to the city after the road was repaired.
After having dinner at the village director's house, the village director arranged for Sima Zijian and Yang Lele to stay in two empty rooms.
After making the bed, Sima Zijian came to Yang Lele's room and asked her to record the nursery rhyme into a document based on the recording. As soon as Yang Lele finished typing, Sima Zijian suddenly screamed "Ah!" Yang Lele was startled and asked hurriedly, "What's wrong?" Sima Zijian's face turned red, not knowing whether it was because of fear or excitement. He pointed at the nursery rhyme that Yang Lele had just typed on the computer and asked in a trembling voice, "Look, what does this nursery rhyme look like now?" Yang Lele looked at the screen and saw that the nursery rhyme on the document was arranged in a line with each sentence aligned in the center.
"Like what?" Yang Lele still didn't understand.
"Tombstone!" Sima Zijian gestured with his hands and explained, "This is the top of the tombstone, this is the body of the tombstone, and this is the base of the tombstone!" After hearing what Sima Zijian said, Yang Lele discovered that the shape of the nursery rhyme on the screen really looked like a tombstone standing on a piece of white paper!
At this time, Sima Zijian's eyes lit up and he discovered something: "Look, on this 'tombstone', the middle part is exactly the sentence 'Five Shrimp Died', which means…" Before Sima Zijian finished speaking, Yang Lele took over and said: "It means that this 'tombstone' was erected for the 'Five Shrimp' who died in the nursery rhyme!"
"Yes!" Sima Zijian nodded approvingly, "The purpose of a tombstone is to tell others who is buried there, and this nursery rhyme is actually the tombstone of 'Five Shrimp'! To uncover the secret of this nursery rhyme, the key is to know who the dead 'Five Shrimp' in the nursery rhyme is!"
Yang Lele couldn't help but shudder. The quiet night in the mountain village suddenly became a little eerie and scary. Yang Lele didn't dare to sleep alone anymore. She insisted that Sima Zijian accompany her. Sima Zijian had no choice but to sit in Yang Lele's room with his clothes on until dawn.
The next morning, Sima Zijian used a pencil to sketch the shape of the "tombstone" shown by the nursery rhyme arrangement and took it to the village director. Unexpectedly, the village director told him that the mountain villagers in the village rarely used tombstones after their death. He was afraid that Sima Zijian would not believe him, so he found two villagers to accompany Sima Zijian to search the mountain, but they did not find a tombstone.
This made Sima Zijian doubt his speculation last night: Was he really making a fuss? This was just an ordinary nursery rhyme.
2. Let’s die
When Sima Zijian returned to the village, Yang Lele was chatting with her online friends. Seeing Sima Zijian standing behind her and looking at her, she immediately typed "886" and logged off. Suddenly, a flash of lightning flashed through Sima Zijian's mind, and he grabbed the computer and quickly typed a string of numbers.
Yang Lele was startled and leaned over to see what Sima Zijian had written on the computer: 5, 4, 5, 4, 5, 4, 10, 9, 4, 8.
"What does this mean?" Yang Lele asked.
"The number of words, the number of words in each line!" Sima Zijian pointed at the computer and said, "Look, the number of words in each line of this nursery rhyme is this string of numbers!"
Yang Lele counted the number of words in each line of the nursery rhyme, and it matched the number Sima Zijian had written. However, she still didn't understand: "But what does this mean?"
"Homophone!" Sima Zijian was so excited that his breathing became a little rapid. "'5' is 'I', '4' is 'death', this string of numbers together is…" Before he could finish his words, Yang Lele understood it all at once and blurted out: "I die, I die, I die, I'll die!"
As soon as Yang Lele finished speaking, the room suddenly became deathly silent. Sima Zijian found that Yang Lele had a terrified look on his face, and he also felt a cold sweat coming out of his back!
After a moment, Sima Zijian broke the silence and whispered: "From this sentence, it can be seen that the author of the nursery rhyme is the dead 'Wu Xiazi', and he knew that he would die, so he said 'Let's die'!"
Sima Zijian's words reminded Yang Lele, and she continued, "This also explains why we can't find the deceased's tombstone. Because the deceased expected that he would not have a tombstone after his death, so he composed this nursery rhyme to erect a tombstone for himself!"
"Yes!" Sima Zijian nodded. "Not only does he not have a tombstone, he may not even have a grave. Moreover, he may have guessed that the truth behind his death would also be covered up, so he wrote this nursery rhyme to tell us some secrets that he did not want others to know!"
Yang Lele found it incredible that there was a secret hidden in this nursery rhyme, but Sima Zijian's analysis seemed to make sense. "But the villagers in this mountain, let alone hiding a secret in a nursery rhyme, I'm afraid they can't even make up the most ordinary nursery rhyme, right?" Yang Lele asked.
Sima Zijian nodded slightly. This was also the part he had been unable to figure out. He read the nursery rhyme a few more times in a low voice, then looked out the window in deep thought.
After an unknown amount of time, Sima Zijian suddenly stood up, ran out of the house, and asked several children playing in the yard: "Children, where is the river here?" The leading child replied: "Uncle, we don't have a river here. We get water from the well." As soon as the child finished speaking, Sima Zijian immediately turned back to the house and said excitedly: "Shrimp! Shrimp! There is something wrong with the 'shrimp' in this nursery rhyme!"
"What's the problem?" Yang Lele stood up and asked.
Sima Zijian picked up a glass of water, drank it all, and then explained: "There is no river here, so there is naturally no 'shrimp'. But how can such a thing that no one has ever seen appear in the nursery rhyme? They should make up tigers, foxes, and rabbits. Even if they make up dogs and cats, they would not make up a 'shrimp'! This shows that the word 'shrimp' must have a deep meaning!"
After hearing what Sima Zijian said, Yang Lele nodded repeatedly: "Yes! I have never seen any songs about shrimps in children's songs. I was wondering why this nursery rhyme was so awkward, it turns out that's the problem!"
"But what does 'shrimp' mean?" Yang Lele couldn't figure it out.
Sima Zijian seemed to have thought of it long ago. He picked up a pencil and wrote four big characters "Xia" on the white paper on the table. Then he circled the characters "Xia" and "Zhi" respectively, and then said: "'Xia Zi' is the homonym of 'Xia' and 'Zhi'. Could it be 'Xia'?"
Yang Lele suddenly realized that if this nursery rhyme was written by the educated youth who went to the countryside, the problem would be solved. The educated youth were well-educated, so it was not surprising that they could make up such a nursery rhyme; and the nursery rhyme appeared about 30 years ago, which was also the time when the educated youth went to the countryside. And the secret hidden in this nursery rhyme is likely to be the story of the seven educated youth!
They both felt they had suddenly found the answer to the nursery rhyme.
Sima Zijian quickly found the village director, who confirmed that educated youth had indeed come to the village more than 30 years ago, but there were only six, not seven as Sima Zijian had guessed.
The village director's answer disappointed Sima Zijian. How could there be six? The nursery rhyme mentioned seven "shrimps". If his reasoning was correct, there should be seven educated youths!
Seeing that Sima Zijian was skeptical of his answer, the village director said, "The production team leader when the educated youth went to the countryside may know more about the situation. I'll let him tell you about it."
Soon, the village director brought in an old man in his sixties. The village director introduced him as Zhu Dajiang, the production team leader of Huaishu Village thirty years ago. After Sima Zijian explained why he asked about the number of educated youth, Zhu Dajiang pondered for a while and told everyone with certainty that the village director was right. At that time, there were indeed only four men and two women in the village, a total of six educated youth.
"Have all these educated youth returned to the city now?" Sima Zijian still did not give up.
"Only three returned to the city." Before Zhu Dajiang could answer, the village director had already answered.
Sima Zijian was very curious: "What about the other three people?" The village director counted on his fingers and answered: "Among the remaining three, two stayed in the village and settled down, and the other one…" At this point, the village director looked at Zhu Dajiang, then sighed, "There is another one… called Wu Jianwei. He, he stole the production team's supplies and ran away before the educated youth returned to the city. Maybe he slipped back to the city, or maybe he ran away to another place. In any case, there is no news about him. Back then, the old team leader was punished for his deeds…"
"Stop talking!" Zhu Dajiang sighed and interrupted the village director. "Why are you still talking about those trivial things?" After that, he started smoking in silence.
Hearing that there were still two educated youth left here, Sima Zijian planned to visit them.
3. Nursery Rhymes Kill
The village director said that the two educated youth who stayed behind were named Chen Hai and Liu Dong. They both married girls from the village and did not return to the city, but settled down here. Of the two, Chen Hai's home was on the mountainside, the closest to here, so we could go find him first.
Following the village director, Sima Zijian and the others soon arrived at Chen Hai's home on the mountainside. After knocking on the door, Chen Hai's family told the village head that Chen Hai would go to the stone cliff in the front mountain to collect herbs every afternoon, and he was probably there now.
The village director led them back and walked towards the stone cliff in front of the mountain.
Shiyazi is a cliff several tens of meters high. When they arrived at Shiyazi, the village director looked around but did not see Chen Hai. He shouted loudly for a while, but still no one responded. When everyone was about to go back, Sima Zijian suddenly found a rope in the bushes. One end of the rope was tied to a big tree on the cliff, and the other end was hanging down the cliff.
"Chen Hai must be down there!" The village director took off his coat and said to Sima Zijian, "I'll go down and take a look!" As he spoke, he pulled the rope, tied it tight again, and then slid down the cliff. Seeing the village director sliding down, Sima Zijian was a little worried and followed him down the cliff.
Before Sima Zijian's feet touched the ground, he heard the village director shouting, "Oh no! Chen Hai fell!" Sima Zijian looked down and saw an old man in his fifties lying on his back on a large rock below the climbing rope at the bottom of the cliff below his body. The village director was holding him and shouting loudly.
Sima Zijian loosened his grip, slid to the bottom of the cliff, and ran over in a few steps.
The old man on the rock had a broken head and a large pool of blood. He was already dead. His hands were clenched into fists, as if he was still holding the rope. He was carrying a backpack on his back, but it had been crushed and the herbs inside had spilled all over the ground. It looked like he had suddenly fallen down while climbing up.
The village chief cried for a while and told Sima Zijian that this was the Chen Hai they were looking for.
"This old man Chen, who has been collecting herbs for decades, died on this cliff." After climbing up the cliff, the village director told Sima Zijian that he would go back to notify Chen Hai's family to collect the body. He asked, "Do you want to go find Liu Dong yourself, or wait here for me to call someone and then accompany you…" When Yang Lele heard that they had to stay here, he jumped up and said, "Let's go find him ourselves!"
Sima Zijian knew that Yang Lele was worried that someone had just died here, so he smiled and said to the village director: "You go ahead and do your own thing. You don't have to accompany us. Just tell us where Liu Dongjia is and we'll go find him ourselves."
The village director told them that Liu Dong had no children and his wife had died of illness a few years ago. Liu Dong had difficulty walking and rarely went out. The village took care of him and arranged for him to look after the orchard, and his home was next to the orchard. As he spoke, the village director pointed to a golf course on a hill not far away. Sima Zijian found that the golf course did not seem far away and the road was easy to walk, so he wrote down the route and took Yang Lele to the golf course.
The road in the mountains looks close, but it is far when you walk. After a while, Yang Lele shouted that he couldn't walk anymore, so Sima Zijian had to stop.
Sima Zijian had just sat down on a rock by the road when Yang Lele suddenly shouted, "It's on fire! The green is on fire!"
Sima Zijian looked up and saw thick smoke coming out of the green in the distance. It was really on fire! He didn't care about Yang Lele anymore, he stood up and ran towards the green.
When he ran to the green panting, Sima Zijian found that the fire was in the hut of the ranger on the green! Liu Dong's legs were inconvenient, so he might still be inside! At this time, the fire had already jumped to the roof, the beams seemed to have been burned off, and the tiles on the roof were falling down with a crackling sound.
At this moment, a groan was heard from the room. "Oh no! Liu Dong is still in there!"
There was a well in front of the house. Sima Zijian quickly drew a bucket of water, poured it on himself, lowered his head and ran into the burning house!
The door was locked from the outside, Sima Zijian kicked it open and rushed in. The room was filled with smoke, but Sima Zijian saw a man lying on the ground, motionless. He did not dare to neglect it, and rushed over, holding back the choking smoke, carrying the man on his back, and rushed out.
At this time, Yang Lele had already caught up. Sima Zijian put the man on the ground, and Yang Lele quickly used a broken bowl on the ground to scoop up well water and fed the man to drink.
This was a man in his fifties, with his left leg amputated below the knee. Could he be Liu Dong? The lame man had his eyes tightly closed, most of his hair had been burned off, and his forehead was covered in blood, as if he had been knocked unconscious by a falling tile.
Not long after the cold well water was poured in, the lame man's eyes slightly opened. Seeing his lips trembling constantly, Sima Zijian knew he was about to speak, so he leaned forward and asked, "How did the fire start?"
The lame man did not answer. His lips trembled a few more times and he recited intermittently: "The big shrimp is sick, the second shrimp goes to see a doctor, the three… the three shrimps go to buy medicine, the four shrimp… boils it, the five shrimp dies, died…" After reciting the nursery rhyme, the lame man tilted his head and closed his eyes.
4. Mysterious Woman
Not long after, the village chief and the villagers came over with buckets and basins, shouting.
It turned out that someone in the village had seen the smoke coming out of the house, but they were too far away and when they arrived, the fire had already burned down the house.
The village director confirmed Sima Zijian's guess that the lame man who was burned to death was Liu Dong! But why did his house suddenly catch fire? And the door was locked from the outside. Could it be that someone set the fire?
The village chief directed the villagers to clean up the burned houses in the hope of finding some clues.
In order to avoid causing panic, Sima Zijian did not mention the nursery rhyme that Liu Dong recited before his death. He felt vaguely that the fire and Chen Hai's death were related to the mysterious nursery rhyme. He kept recalling what happened on this day. Everything was too coincidental. When he was about to find Chen Hai to learn about the nursery rhyme, Chen Hai fell to his death; when he was about to find Liu Dong, Liu Dong died again. They did not seem to die in an accident, but if someone wanted to kill them, who would it be? Only the village director knew that the two people were to be found. But the village director had been with him all the time and had no time to commit the crime.
But Sima Zijian felt that one thing was certain, that is, something must have happened between the seven educated youth back then, and it was all hidden in that mysterious nursery rhyme.
Because two people died in the village at the same time, the village director made a temporary decision to hold the funerals of the two old educated youths together. He asked people to return to the village immediately and set up the mourning hall for the two at the village committee.
Here, everyone was about to carry Liu Dong's body back to the village when they saw a middle-aged woman in her fifties running up the hill, panting. The woman was well-dressed and had a noble temperament. It was obvious that she was not from the village. The woman ran to Liu Dong's body, wiped her tears and cried, "Brother Liu Dong, why are you two gone at once…"
The village director obviously didn't recognize this woman who suddenly appeared. He was about to ask, but an elderly woman next to him called out: "Isn't this the educated youth sister Shen Fei? She hasn't changed at all!" The woman wiped her tears, nodded and said: "Third sister-in-law, it's me."
Sima Zijian understood immediately that Shen Fei was one of the two female educated youths. Sima Zijian was secretly delighted. He thought that the death of Chen Hai and Liu Dong made it impossible for him to understand the situation back then. Unexpectedly, Shen Fei came. Maybe she could reveal the secret of the nursery rhyme for him. But how could she suddenly appear again after decades of returning to the city?
At this moment, Shen Fei seemed to remember something, stood up hurriedly, and asked: "Have you seen Pan Dajun?"
"Pan, Pan Dajun? He's here too?" the woman asked.
Shen Fei's expression suddenly became shy, and she explained in a low voice: "Pan Dajun and I got married two years after we returned to the city. Didn't he come to the village?"
Sima Zijian heard from Shen Fei's words that Pan Dajun was also an educated youth back then. Because they had worked in the production team together, Shen Fei married him after returning to the city. This time, the two went out to travel together. When they passed by here in the morning, they happened to encounter a mudslide in front of them, blocking the road. Shen Fei remembered that this place was not far from Huaishu Village where she had worked in the production team, so she asked Pan Dajun to find the way to see if he could go to Huaishu Village to visit old friends. But Pan Dajun had been out for several hours, but he had never returned. He called his cell phone, but no one answered. Shen Fei was a little worried about what the previous sentence of "Si Yi He Ai" was , so she had to lock the car and walked into the mountains according to her memory. Unexpectedly, as soon as she entered the village, she heard that Chen Hai and Liu Dong had died, and then she came to the golf green.
Hearing that everyone said they hadn't seen Pan Dajun, Shen Fei muttered, "He hasn't been back for decades. Could Old Pan have gotten lost?"
When Sima Zijian heard that Shen Fei's husband was actually one of the educated youths back then, his eyes lit up and he stopped Shen Fei and said, "Ms. Shen, don't be anxious. Can I ask you a few questions?"
Although Shen Fei felt that this stranger was a little strange, she still stopped politely and asked, "What's the matter?"
Sima Zijian took out a recorder, played the nursery rhyme he had recorded, and asked her if she knew this nursery rhyme. Shen Fei thought about it carefully and said that she had never heard of this nursery rhyme and didn't know where it came from. However, she also felt that this nursery rhyme was a bit weird.
Sima Zijian told her that this nursery rhyme was most likely composed by an educated youth at that time, so he wanted to ask her to talk about what happened back then.
